Comfrey Films
Comfrey Films is a Black trans-led film and media organization founded by Visionary Justice StoryLab Resisting Narratives of Erasure alum Joie Lou Shakur. Through the annual Black Trans Short Film Festival in Durham, North Carolina, Comfrey Films invests in a future where the lives, stories, and creative visions of Black Trans, Gender Non-Conforming, and Intersex people are unforgettable. Featuring film screenings, filmmaker conversations, panels, and community events, the festival is part of a growing movement to build independent media ecosystems and pathways for Black trans storytellers.
RE-IMAGINE
RE:IMAGINE equips the next generation of storytellers through immersive programs for underrepresented youth entering the entertainment and media industries. By connecting young creatives to mentorship, hands-on training, and career pathways, RE:IMAGINE is helping build a more inclusive future for film, television, and digital media.
Southern Fried Queer Pride
Southern Fried Queer Pride (SFQP) is an Atlanta-based (on Muscogee & Cherokee land) organization empowering Black queer and QTPOC centered communities in the South through the arts. Through Cinequeer, its annual film showcase, SFQP highlights the work of Southern queer and trans filmmakers and creates space for their stories to be seen, celebrated, and shared.
