Our Mission

UN/LOCKED is a workshop series supporting  performers, cultural workers, teaching artists and community organizers in evolving creative practices that address systemic and intergenerational trauma in communities of color, especially those that have been heavily impacted by incarceration and racism. These workshops center story and socially engaged art as a way to have critical dialogue around social justice issues. Modeling a trauma informed framework, participants are guided through a process of inquiry, culminating in the creation of performances and media  exploring the impact of racism on the body, relationship, representation, and the tools necessary to promote healing.
